ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Iraq's national carrier, Iraqi Airways, announced on Monday the resumption of its flights following a temporary suspension prompted by the renewed exchange of attacks between Iran and Israel.
"The Iraqi Airways would like to inform its valued passengers that it has resumed its scheduled round-trip flights to various destinations following the reopening of Iraqi airspace and the return of air traffic to normal operations," the carrier said in a statement.
The reopening of Iraqi airspace also affects the Kurdistan Region, allowing flights to and from the Region's airports to resume.
Iraq on Sunday announced a 72-hour closure of its airspace amid the latest escalation between Iran and Israel.
Iran launched several waves of missile attacks against Israel on Monday, prompting retaliatory strikes by Tel Aviv despite US efforts to prevent an Israeli response.
Both countries announced on Monday that they would halt further strikes following efforts by US President Donald Trump to de-escalate the situation.
